I have seen people say the Matted File Fish will eat Majano. I am looking for personal experiences, not "I read it on the internet" of this working or not working to control Majano Nems...

Did it work for you?

Did a different fish work better?

Best control from a fish for my experience is the green filefish. If your lfs is so gracious to let you drop a majano filled rock in their tank with the fish is buying with confidence. Out of the three they had one immediately went to town on the rock. It has taken about 4 months to eradicate and they few left are in too tight of a spot for it to get.

Several years ago I had a matted file fish that ate both aptasias and majanos.

I currently have a copperbanded butterfly that only eats aptasias.
It won't touch the pink tip majanos I have now.
On a positive note, I have 2 different local people that want me to give the pink tipped majanos to them.
Both said they would pay me for them.

So far I have refused to give them any.

I also had a Kleins Butterfly work on majanos.
But once they were gone it went after every other coral in the tank with frilly polyps.
Lost a lot until I managed to get it out.

That's the trouble - any fish that will eat majanos will probably also eat your zoos - at least. Years ago I used an Asfur Angel to eradicate majanos, which it dutifully did. Then it eradicated all my zooanthids.
