Fish building/man cave build!

Yes I know is till have to work on wiring.

BTW, what do you guys think of the backlight now that’s its setup?
I like it, a lot. You see black all the time or a horrid blue that does not age well, or maybe just a wall through the pane. Your panel isolates the tank from the wall without being just a plain colored panel. I think it adds interest.

That was the goal. Different, not crazy and inexpensive. I may swap the 6000k light strip for an RGB and see if different colors make a difference but, for now, I am super happy with it since it cost $9 and a piece of scrap aluminum channel and diffuser and leftover light strip and power supply I had on hand. IF you had to pay retail for the whole background it would be about $40 I would guess.

I'd guess more, probably more like $100.

Yeah maybe seeing as I also had to print custom brackets to hold it onto the 3030 extrusion. I guess it’s the little stuff that would add up.

It looks really nice.

I would swap out for the RGB LEDs. I like to have different colors depending on my mood or the mood I want to create.

Also, I am hoping it is because I am delusional but it looks like the lights are not centered over the tank. An easy fix by sliding the aluminum a little to the right. However, the aluminum mounted to the wall is not such an easy fix to get centered. Am I out of my own lane?

Correct. It is off center by 3/4”.

I am working on a solution because it’s mounted with all anchors and two of them I can’t get to now that the tank is in place. What happened was I measured, put the bracket in place then didn’t think to check that the tank was center on the light when I moved it in place u til after it was full of water.

Big mistake but I am sure I will come up with something.

Well, you know what I always say, "If you need help, don't call me."

As you know, you can always call me even though I'm not a Blondie. I'm a Baldie, like you.

Isn't there some rule about 'he who findth the problem must fixith the problem'?

I am going to be able to get the current mount uninstalled. I think I may go with a floating canopy or light rack.

It will just look a lot more clean. And, it will stop @That Crusso Kid from pointing out my mistake. 🤣

I think I'd try the light rack. Because of the backlight and the dimensions, your tank has a nice airy look. Did you say that you were going to match the skins to the freshwater tank? If I remember right that tank just has tank mounts. No matter what you do though it won't help, he'll find something to carp about.

BUT

Sooner or later he will have to start a build thread for all the gear he's been gifted and it will be our turn.

I vote for the canopy.
