Fish Injury

My scribbled rabbit has a nice gash in its side and stopped eating. Its only been 24 hours but its still odd for the fish. I am assuming the kole tang my habe hit it and have witnessed no agression today. Any ideas on how to get the fish to eat again? Been leaving live macro in the tank without any luck. The fish is upright and acting normal except for not eating.

Mysis shrimp, Live Brine shrimp, LRS may get it going if you haven't tried them.

Nope. Normal Rabbit eyes.

I'm not a disease or injury expert but this is a similar case, minus the not eating well. See Humblefish's post. Im not sure what your feeding your fish but the foods mentioned above are good recommendations imo, it might entise a feeding response. Some folks say garlic also helps entise eating. I personally never tried it. Im sure one of the experts will be along soon.

That's a good thread, bringing in Humble's last post;

"You can soak their food with vitamin supplements (exs. Selcon, Zoecon, Vita-chem) to bolster the immune system to help heal wounds. Or for really serious wounds, give the fish a bath using Methylene Blue (or treat with it in a QT.) Methylene Blue helps heal wounds and prevent infection; although antibiotics may still be needed afterwards. Methylene Blue is also useful for treating ammonia burn. Some LFS use it on newly arrived fish during their acclimation process."

If you could buy some LRS fish eggs they seem to get good feedback for starting to get a fish to eat.

Hoping tomorrow brings better news and just needed a day to settle down and recover. It was still out and swimming around. Didnt seem stressed other than not eating. Breathing normal, no camo colors, etc.

I actually have fish eggs but he is a bit big for it to do anything. My goto has always been red ogo and it typically devours it so I moved some from the refugium into the tank. Lights are out but I watched the fish for a few hours and didn't see any aggression from the kole and the rabbit was acting pretty normal minus not eating. I am actually not even sure if that injury is from the Kole but I don't have anything g else in the tank that can do damage like that.

Wound looks better today. Still no interest in food though.
