Fish don’t need light except for seeing, it will be a matter of what looks good to you and not growing algae too quickly. Is the aquarium set up already?

OK, try experimenting with a light of known wattage held above the aquarium. You will learn very quickly what wattage or lumens (often reported in the light bulb) look good.
