Anyone happen to have any additional feedback on how to improve?

The only feedback I can really give is to bump up the brightness on your subject in the photo. This will allow the subject of your photo to stand out from the background and not blend in as much. Other than that they look great! Your composition and colors in your pictures are spot on, and you can really see what the focus of each picture should be!

Appreciate the feedback, it’s very specific and helpful! I’ll have to give that a try next time— it’s definitely a fine balance with brightness. :)

beautiful set of pictures and subject, Id be very happy with what you have,
beleieve these are shot wihtout flash ? great work freezing the motion.
my only area for improvement would be a bit more conctrast or pop as the pics are tiny bit on the flat side, bit of flash might help with that

Thank you! You are correct, these were done without flash. I have been considering experimenting with flash since it can up the image quality (lower iso, etc). Appreciate the insights.

I decided to buy a flash and try it out. Here are the results (still a surprisingly decent learning curve for flash).

how are we feeling about the brightness of the subject/background separation in these? Do I need to bump the brightness of the subject up even more? @IntrinsicReef @Gumbies R Us @maroun.c
I really like it. I think you nailed the color temp and didn't get overexposed areas. The two issues with a flash where I have struggled.

I don't know very much about flash photography. Is there any tricks you learned?
Thank you! I’m new to flash photography so I don’t have a ton of tips I can give. This was my first time— I did learn that the trick (or so I think) is to try to balance out the power of the flash to avoid harsh shadows. I pointed the flash up and also used a diffuser.

If I’m honest I’m still debating on if I think it’s worth it, considering it wasn’t very cheap. The plus is that it does improve image quality (decreases ISO, higher f stop number). This isn’t necessarily reflected on the forums as the compression decreases the image quality.

I purchased a brighter flash to play around with… still not sure about using a flash, but here is one pic that turned out kind of fun and interesting.
