Finally getting my fish room built. Its only 6x6 so its small. The 150g tank will actually be in the study next to the fish room, but the opening in the wall will be the same size as the tank & stand (see pic below), so the room isn't sealed. I'll have cabinets built around the frame and above the tank. I have an AC vent in the room to keep it cool, but I'm a little worried about humidity. Anyone have an idea or suggestions for a quiet exhaust fan & humidistat?

In the room I'll be able to access the sump, back side of the stand will be open. I'll have a sink in the corner with RODI. I'll have a 35g fresh water container, fridge/freezer & several shelves. I'll have 2 tanks - 1 frag & 1 QT, with room for a hospital tank if I need it. Its going to be tight, but I don't really plan on hanging out in there. I've got plenty of plugs & 2 20A circuits.

Much of my design is coming from @scott11106 just smaller & I won't have part of the tank, stand or sump in the fish room.

I would install a fan so ait is constanly being exchanged in the room even when the AC isn't running. Something like this might be an easy option:

No image came through with the post

SOrry, apparently I couldn't link to it. AC register or grills are made with fans attached and due the same job as the duct fan posted above but are easier to install since ducting doesn't need to be accessed and cut. Maybe this link will work:

Thats actually pretty cool. Don't think it'll do what I want it to for this application, but that website has some other cool stuff too. thx

Glass Covers on Everything. Glass Covers and Acrylic Covers on Sump where piping comes out. With that tight of space, you are going to have pH problems, so you need to control gas exchange. The covers will help with this. Air pumped from outside and fed to Skimmer, Sump and possibly the overflow.

i use something like this and run it to the outside like a bathroom or kitchen vent
your tank will be there for a while and you don’t want to build up the humidity
i just bought an inkbird humidity controller also pretty cheap

I had one just like that in my previous home. Was mounted in the attic about 15 feet away from the ceiling. Couldn't even hear it.

I saw those in another post, but I'd still have to install a vent & really tear into my ceiling to get that in there. Very fancy, but with fancy comes failures. LOL
Ive been running AC infinity on my Home Audio Video Rack for 8+ years. Perfection, Zero Issues !!!

If I were designing the house I'd probably go this route, but since I am doing a retro, I'm not sure this will work. The room is in the middle of the house so I have no way to access the outside easily. My plan is to tie an exhaust fan into an existing duct in the laundry room next door with a Y connector. The fan in the laundry room is rarely used, but that duct is there & I can get to it, with a few holes in the ceiling. LOL

I'm looking more for advice on a humidistat that can control the EF.

Here is a build I am doing right now. I have a Panasonic whisper quiet exhaust fan rated for wet locations and it’s wired to a humidistat in the canopy. It is ducted outside with a 3” vent.

I installed a HD bath vent fan above my frag tank in the basement and due to the salt in the air it rusted solid. Do they make vent fans for corrosive environments?
