It's not only blue eyes that I would exlude, most cardinals won't eat them. It's more based on size and ability. Also, neon gobies are a 'cleaner', and have a cleaner pattern and behavior, this helps protect the neon goby from predation. It doesn't always protect it, but frequently works.
