Hi i have a 80G 28x28x24 infinity overflow tank. Looking for fish recommendations that won't jump. I currently have 2 purple tangs and a sailfin tank who will out grow this tank. Clown fish, royal gramma. The tank primarily has just my 24 inch gigas clam and a few coral near or on the bottom. These fish have done well and rare that they splash. Sailfin will chase the other tangs. The clown lost his mate so another one would be a good addition. The royal gramma rarely comes above 1/2 tank height.

What would you recommend?

Get a mesh net lid ontop of the tank, whilst not all fish may jump, all fish have the potential to. I’ve had Tangs, Foxfaces, Butterflies, Clowns all jump out of coral trays in the past. Yes, once settled their likelihood of jumping becomes lower, but it is never 0.

As noted by all posters, basically any fish can and will jump. There is not “safe list”. Some are more prone than others, but you can’t count on that in the reverse to narrow to what is “safe”.

Do a DIY mesh lid as I did. Used a basic screen door kit from the hardware store, and it wasn't expensive to make

Man and to think my nets have always been the DIYs from D-D, Red Sea etc. never even thought to use a screen door kit!

I'm curious if the OP is referring to one of there zero edge tanks. If so, a lid defeats the purpose but I suppose you can have a lid with some standoffs.

My rimless tank, has a lid.
Mine too. The picture I posted is not your typical rimless. It has water flowing over all four edges of the tank into a perimeter around the bottom.

This is correct. Zero edge tanks are a totally diffeent creature than rimless. For those that dont know, zero edge tanks sit in a basin, not on a stand, and the water is pumped in the display until it literally overflows over the edge, and down the outside of the panes of glass, and is collected into the basin. I do not see how a lid could be used for a zero edge tank.

Also, having been exposed to several zero edge tanks, they are a pain. Very cool, unique, and novel, but a PITA to clean, and anytime you try to lean towards the tank to look, if your arm/shirt/anything touches the overflowing water, it'll go everywhere.
