Flame angelfish breeding thread

We're working with a few angelfish species right now, and one of our newest pairs just started spawning this week. Last night was the first confirmed spawn, with a good number of eggs released.
The female is a rare aberrant version, lacking most of her stripes. She was purchased from Pacific Island Aquatics two months ago, and is already making babies! We hope that she is concealing some interesting genetics, and potentially raise some "designer" flame angels. Flame angelfish have a very long larval stage, upwards of 100 days or so, with low success rates.

This pair spawns fairly early in the evening, which caught us by surprise. I'll update this post with some egg photos next week.

Out of curiosity, what conditions do you have the pair/ eggs in?

The pair is currently in a 180, but will be moved into a 60 cube soon. Eggs are collected and incubated in a beaker for 18 hours before they hatch out.

Spawning has been successful. We hatched out 190 healthy flame angelfish from this spawn, and moved them into the larval tank. We plan to collect for a few more nights and combine the larvae for increased chances.

Here are some eggs that are probably an hour away from hatching. We are running some test with the early larvae to try and determine the best way to start a batch. So far I'm incubating 2 days worth of eggs at room temp to delay hatching, while the next two days of spawns are incubated at higher temps to speed up development. The goal is to combine 4 days worth of larvae that are relatively similar in development.

Wow, this is awesome. I can't wait to see this progress. It's hard to believe those eggs are about to hatch, they don't even resemble fish to the untrained eye.

Breed some angels that are allergic to SPS flavor

The hatched larvae lack eyes, mouth, and pretty much all internal organs when they leave the egg. The can wiggle, and that's about it.
It takes a few days for these body parts to develop.
