Hi all

I am thinking of adding a flame dwarf angel, as its my favorite fish and whats gotten me into this hobby!
I didnt find much info on this, but according to my LFS, its gonna be a risk when adding a flame angel because of my tomini. That he will be aggressive towards the angel.
Online i read that the tominis is a less aggressive fish, and so far i didnt see any aggresion or anything from him. He usually goes hiding whenever someone gets near the tank and he stays away from the other fish or ignores them completely.

Tank size is 425L with lots of hiding spaces.

Anyone have experience with this or advice?

Thanks in advance!

I think it should be fine given the size of the tank. In my experience, dwarf angels are more aggressive than tomini tangs. Worst case, you may have to capture the tomini if it is aggressive continuously and keep it in an isolation box for a week or so to calm down and get used to the new addition. I had to capture my coral beauty angel and keep it in isolation for 10 days when I added my yellow tang, because the angel was intent on violence. After the angel's time in time-out, all was fine. This is in a reefer 350.

Thanks for the reply!
I was thinking too with tank size it should be fine, and my tomini is quite shy and doesnt care about the other fish.
Will keep an eye on it though, i could also try the mirror trick if theres any aggression

I think that might work. I don't have a tomini but I kept a flame angel in my reefer 300 36x22x22" with a yellow tang and two spot bristle tooth and they all got along fine for several months. The flame is now in my larger tank with a coral beauty and 8 tangs and there is no aggression but the tank is 84x30x25"

Flame angel will not be bother by a Tomini tang in a 425 liter tank. I would not worry about it. Add a harem. Harem of dwarf angels are much more interesting than keeping them as singleton.

Thanks for all the answers guys.
I actually added it about a month ago, no aggresions. A bit of checking each other out but nothing more. They dont chase each other or anything. Both very peaceful.

Sadly cant add a harem. First they are quite expensive here (about 250 to 300 dollars) and, if my LFS even gets one, they only have one. Never saw them have multiples.
But it all worked out

I established a Harem of three for a friend of mine. He just pick them up yesterday. They are dimorphic so it is easy to sex them, along with the fact that they are protogynous hermaphodies, it is easy to get a harem (other than the price in your case)
Here is picture of the male that just went to my friend's tank. He change from juvenile at 1 inch to full adult in a few months
