Flame Hawkfish behavior

So every night before lights out around 8pm my Flamehawk starts glass surfing and sticking his mouth out of the water. It’s every night like clock work. I freak out a little every night and check parameters and ph but it’s always steady. He was even doing this in the QT tank. I know he likes to perch up pretty high at night , is this him looking for a spot or possibly him being stressed?

Don't know why, but mine has been doing the same periodically for months. Was just doing it a few minutes ago and I was sitting here wondering what the heck it wrong with him. All of the other fish act normal.

Drives me crazy lol. He’s absolutely my wife’s favorite fish and it doesn’t seem to phase her one bit that he acts all erratic every night. “He does this every night” I know but why ?!?? Lol

Perching on the glass, especially the corners, is pretty normal for hawks.

Make sure you got that tank covered though.
