Am I just being an idiot? I'm just finishing up my tank plumbing and all I have left are a few 1/2" hose barbs to connect to some 1/2" black vinyl tubing. I simply cannot get the hose fully seated onto the barb. It's a 5 tooth barb and I can get the hose onto the 3rd barb just. I have tried both lubing the barb and allowing the tubing to sit in boiling water, but it just isn't happening. Is there some trick I seem to be missing? Both the hose and barb are from brs.

Did you try wiggling it on? I’m not sure the application but if you have 3 barbs on I’d think about a hose clamp. I’ve done that before on canisters and it worked fine

It just took a little more heat. I went out to the grill and ran it over the flame for a few seconds and I was able to get them on all the way, it was a struggle, but they’re on there.
