Better late than never......Tank was started on May 7th. 36 gallon Bow front tank. Unfortunately I did not document the progress tediously like most on here  but I will do my best to share what I have and update this periodically to make it look like an actual build thread;). Some of the equipment I was using at this time(May7) is a Marineland C-220 canister filter, , Eheim 150watt Heater and an aquaknight light, DIY acrylic lid from Home Depot. Cycled the tank with 60 pounds of live rock from LFS and 40 pounds of aragonite dry sand which gave me a 2-3 inch sand bed. Pictures shown below are when I first filled the tank and following day when it cleared. More pics and updates to come!

I find that the progress pics and all the steps with equipment are individuals who are setting up an upgrade or getting back into the hobby.
My build thread is the same as yours.
Yeah man I totally agree. This is my first time fresh virgin over here lol. I need to add the updates on here been slacking a tad bit.

Alright guys so as of May 23 of this year the tank was finally cycled !! I went to a LFS and picked up a green branching hammer coral to add as my very first piece of coral in the tank ;Happy. I was very nervous not knowing what to expect especially after dipping it in Melafix. At this point I did not have any test kits for calc, mag, alk, or phos I was still a noob:oops:. All I knew was my salinity , ph, and nitrates were in good range. I was still using the Aquaknight light as well. Things were sold out and very difficult to acquire during the very strict wild beginnings of Covid unfortunately.

June 5th was a great day for me and a bad day for my bank account ;Greedy;Greedy! I went into a LFS and acquired some GSP and a green candy cane coral.....I guess you could say I was in love with green at this point:p. I was also able to get my hands on Xr15 G5 Blue light with the rms mount and a Mp10 wavemaker things were getting serious;Pompus. Oh and almost forgot I got some flurry clowns that bonded immediately after I put them in the tank.

June 11 I felt like my tank needed more life and the clowns spent most their time in the upper left corner of my tank so I bought a YWG and tiger pistol shrimp they bonded after a couple days which was awesome. Only have a pic of the YWG unfortunately.

July 9 my candy cane coral was starting to show decline and I couldn’t not figure out why... this is when I decided to invest in more test kits to help assist in finding the issue. While buying the test kits at the LFS I couldn’t resist bringing my fav fish home....Blue spot jawfish ! Wow amazing fish so much personality and life!!

August was the worst month....I acquired an Aquamaxx Hob 1.5 skimmer. I don’t have any photos because I didn’t want any memory of that time...;Dead my tank went through a red cyano stage and I used chemiclean to get rid of it.....it worked however Dinos came and wow I did everything I could to get rid of them butwas not successful after dosing vibrant and increasing temp to 82-83 and doing a 3 day black out I was successful in eradicating 80 percent of them and they slowly disappeared!!!:D I remember I was so excited after seeing my tank clear and clean after so long I went on a buying frenzy and acquired a bunch of corals to add.

Fast forward today and my tank is doing great ! Unfortunately like most on here I’ve had some ups and downs some losses and victories. My candy cane didn’t make it I had 2 cleaner shrimp that kept picking at it which didn’t help and it also had some Aiptasia on it so I removed it from the tank along with the cleaner shrimp back Tk the LFS they went ( no regrets). My blue spot jawfish went carpet surfing despite having a lid he managed to shoot one the one tiny opening I had....‘‘twas a very sad day...other than that things have been good! My tank parameters are always spot on and consistent. Here are some most recent shots of my tank! Thank you for following along in my journey greatly appreciated oh and there’s my dinner currently ;Woot
