Getting a SWC 230 Cone from a buddy tonight. He doesn't need it anymore (downsized), so I'm trading him for my SRO-2000-XP INT cone (plus throwing in some cash to keep it even). I'm not loyal to any brands out there because I know skimmers well enough. What I "absolutely" love about this cone I'm getting is it has an Askoll 1500 pump. More than ample for my new water volume. I'm also going to seed the refugium with some macro tonight, as well.

U really can't beat the performance of an Askoll. Got 2 buddies running a Cat1 n Cat2 both with Askoll pumps. Sometimes it's not always good for all these manu to push the envelope with all these low draw wattage pumps.
I guess I am in the non- loyal skimmer brand club too.Lol

The only item of concern is the fact that I have to let the skimmer break-in again. I'm hoping it happens quick because my bioload is not getting any smaller! The DT is getting green slime all over the place! Also hoping the added chaeto will help with that.

I didn't get any pics of it out of there, but there she is... in all her glory! I also got some macro floating around in the sump, and two lights dangling overhead. I'll leave them on 24/7.

Just wanted to report that I'm adding another 250# of live rock to the sump this weekend. Found a rippin' deal locally (a lady is moving and "I guess" getting out of the hobby) so I had to grab it up. She wants $1/lb. How can I say no to that? :D
I'll be adding tons of surface area to my setup, not to mention all the little critters that will add to my biological filtration. I'm a strong believer in more water + ugly sump = success in this hobby. Just hope that it don't stink the garage up too much. :D

"You know you're addicted to reefing when ....[you steal live rock from a little old lady]." I bet you'll get there and offer her $200 for it too, lol. Just playin'. That's a killer deal and will be perfect for the extra water volume.
What's great about going that route is you can easily remove rock to clean out any gunk that accumulates and water changes are going to be a breeze with everything connected out in your garage. I'm jealous. Can't wait to see some picture updates.

I forgot to ask earlier, where does the drain-line of your skimmer go? I need to figure something out and I've been looking at the Avast & Reef octopus product -- a milk jug would probably work just as well for the time being though!

Honestly? I don't use it. It's capped off and just hanging there. I haven't cleaned my skimmer once since adding it to the sump because it needed a good break-in. I'm going to clean it tonight though and take a pic of my "nog." LOL

Dang! That's awesome news. I like the cap on and the left side on the one that stayed lower in the video and the "fu-man-chu" on the other. Cute little guys -- they'll make a great addition to the tank. Are you planning on keeping an anemone (or multiple?) too?
Ah.. Cool! How many clowns did yah keep and for how long? What was your experience like? Pls share your experience having multiple clowns. :)

I've had only two at a tank, at a time, for the most part. I started with false percs that were at the local Petco then kept loving them more and more. I then purchased some Grade B Picassos, then Grade A's. Then, I went all out and jumped into some ORA Platinum's. In between, I've owned Maroons, gold striped Maroons, and Onyx. I really love the personalities of these fish, and I'm a "designer" sucker! LOL! The thing I love about these fish is they are very resilient to many of our waterborne problems.
The most aggressive's were the Maroons. They would bite, pull, and beat up the nem that was hosting them! They'd attack my hand as I reached in to put some nori in for the herbivores! They'd fight each other so hard that you'd see wounds all over them! I didn't have them for too long, but I did learn that if you added a couple of BTA's to the tank, it helped them calm down a bit.
The most clowns I had in one tank at one time was in my old 75g RR tank, that was mainly an RBTA tank (Sherman's), but it did have a few GBTA's in it. I had around a dozen clowns in there, and it was very peaceful. I sold the whole setup to a friend and I think he still sells those RBTA's locally. LOL! (Such an opportunist!) :D In all the time I've owned these fish, I've only lost one. He was a jumper (Grade B Picasso).
My buddy, that's giving me the one's above, is responsible for these: Mike Hoang’s ‘Thunder’ or ‘Goldflake’ Maroon Clownfish are showing some really promising patterning
He's really into breeding, and darn good at it! I'm proud to say that I donated a Grade B Picasso to him awhile back and "I think" helped him in his breeding program. I have some awesome friends in Houston. Mike is one of many. :)
how long did you have them together? were they all from the same clutch? what was the clown:BTA ratio?

In that 75... Hmmm... Maybe 8 RBTA's and 3 GBTA's. The clowns were definitely not from the same clutch. They were bought all over town, and some ordered. I had a serious problem back thing. LOL! They were together, with no issues, for at least a year. Never lost one in that tank. The only clown I ever lost was a Grade B Picasso. It was very small, and a jumper. I hated losing that one because it was one of my first, designer clowns. It did get me hooked, though.
I don't plan on getting hooked on them again. I had big dreams of breeding them and giving them away to the local guys, but that just requires more work than I want to do. I want the hobby to remain a hobby. :)
