I'm curious if people do anything to the floors under their tanks. I don't mean reinforcing the joists, etc. I mean since most of us have these in our living rooms where it's hardwood floor or what have you, did anyone place anything under/around the set-ups? I was thinking of perhaps asking a carpenter friend to make a sort of a "pedestal" slightly larger than the tank itself. It would create a separate area (probably waterproof it in some way) and it would also help distribute the weight of the stand legs so as not to damage the original floors. Anybody did anything like that?

Mine just sits n a hardwood floor. It’s 300gal.. I just wipe up and any water that spills etc and wish for the best haha! By the time that tank comes down I’ll need floors anyways

I did something similar. I laid down 2x6’s on their face, added steel plates and then the tank feet to reduce pressure on my floating floor. I also dropped my sump into the bottom of the stand so it sits in a 3” deep “tub” that can hold a few gallons of spilt water. My apex water sensor is inside there.

My build thread has photos.
