I was able to get gas yesterday and this morning for vehicles but only have one gas can 5g so won't be able to run gen for long. Hoping I won't need it!

I'm in Miami outside of the evacuation zone. I have battery-powered air pumps but that's it. I'll freeze some waters bottles today. Luckily my tank is fowlr but it's only 6 mos. old. I just got everything up and running and don't want to lose it all. I lived through Andrew and the 3 2005 storms. We're staying because our house is solid as a rock. But anyone in an evac zone should leave. Trust me. The destructiveness of this kind of storm is hard to put into words. And the aftermath is awful. Most importantly, everyone stay safe. No thing is as important as your safety.

I was living in Florida City went Andrew and lost everything, reason why I'm living in Tampa since 1992. Like you said, the mass of destruction was unbelievable, that's why we have I-75 bumper to bumper yesterday. Lot of people doesn't want to take a risk of not only loosing their valuables but more important, their lives.

Anyone here from Orlando who think we can't handle a cat3? I moved here right after Andrew. My home was build in 2007 so I think it is structurally sound. I do worry about flying objects breaking the windows.

Not sure. We only moved here a little over a year ago. I do worry about projectiles more than anything.

We unexpectedly had to evacuate today after the storm surge warning went up. We are inland at a friend's house which will stay dry. I left my tank today with two battery-powered air pumps. I don't have an automatic feeder but hope to be back in 3-4 days. I hope the little guys make it. If you pray, please send one up for all of us in South Florida.

Prayers for everyone in South Florida, especially the Keys and Naples/Tampa/St Pete. It's starting to look like Fort Lauderdale is going to miss the eye-wall. Stay in touch and let everyone know you are safe.

Looks like Miami is getting some now.

It's so hard to accept that this storm, just two days ago, was either going to barely hug the east coast, or miss Florida.

There are so many people here in Tallahassee that I can't get gas. People just sit at gas stations with no gas.

I'll barely be able to get to work on Monday to help restore power that is bound to go out. I wish Rick Scott would stop talking about getting out and start asking people to get off the roads when it's time for us utility workers to get to it.

Is it just me, or do these weather reporters seem excited when this thing gets worse? Theh seemed SoSoso disappointed when they couldn't upgrade the wind speed at the 8pm advisory.

Tallahassee here. I'm underground and in a large neighborhood. We were out for 36hrs during Hermine. Looks like we definitely have the same experience coming again. Dang I hate Florida sometimes.

Finally got gas today. Filled up both cars with. 93 octane. Lucky as heck to find 93 octane with some many people taking whatever they can find.
