I have a 40 gallon long with these dimensions: 34.79” Width: 16” Height: 12.99”

I have a MP40 (running at 25%, Reef Crest) as well as a SLW-30 (running at 30%, classic mode/cross flow).

I also have a Jebao DCP 8000 return pump that is running at level 2. Maybe 1000 gph? around there I believe.

Running barebottom as well. No rock in display. They are in the sump. Just frag racks.

I have the MP40 on the lower left back of the tank to move the stagnant water around and I have the SLW30 also on the left side, but top mid of the tank to move the water on the upper half of the tank.

I have a crap ton of torches (80% of the tank) as well as 1 large goni (size of a childs basketball). The rest are zoas. I'm not concerned about them.

I'm just wondering if I got too much flow going on.

Thanks

My tank is 36x22x22. I run my MP40s at 25% mounted 3 inches below the surface. You want 20x to 40x cumulative GPH flow rate including return pump and depending on the type of corals you have.

I have a tank that is 36x22x22" with 2 mp40s on the back wall, one on either side of the center overflow running 70% in reefcrest. My tank is all SPS tho. A tank with coral that move around in the current I use the coral movement to determine the flow needed. I also like to see how food blows around. Coral snow can be used also in place of food. I've always used coral movement. Having detritus blow into a corner is also useful if you can achieve it. Probably just me but I've never used gph or turnover rate when adjusting flow and couldn't even tell you how much turnover I have in any one of my 6 tanks.
