I have a 150 gallon rubber maid that was just going to be a frag tank but has slowly turned into a display tank. My question is normally i have my pumps up towards the top of the water and it disturbs the suface> is there any downsides to putting them lower in the tank so i still get the flow but not the disturbance at the top of the water. thanks mike

The only downside is that it doesn't disturb the surface. If you have enough surface skimming from your overflow it shouldn't make a difference.

Yeah its just kinda nice to be able to walk by and see down in the tank since I moved most of my live rock into the rubbermaid to put some corals onto.
