Hi I have a quesiton I'm transitioning my freshwater 40 breeder planted tank to saltwater, and I have a fluval 3.0 planted light my quesiton is, would that light be a good light for corals? And all types from reading online it seems it is really good for corals, and I checked and it says that the fluval 3.0 planted version does both corals and plants wanted some input, thx.

But I would get a par meter and find out what par that light is putting out

Typically freshwater plant lights are less par Then marine lights and usually won't have enoff par in the blue range and to much in the red like yours does

Once you turn off 3k 6k and most of pink your left with less then half the light output you initial had

3k 6k and pink will grow algiw like crazy and you will never get rid of it

10k up is alot of blue coral does better under then algie due to depth it lives at

Np your best bet would be to get or barrow a par meter setup the light spectrum needed and test par levels in your tank

But buying a par meter is just about the same price as a good light lol

Freshwater plants like alot of red reef ta ks like alot of blue

It's the depth that things live at the farther you go down the less red there is and pretty quick there is 0 usable red

So with reef tank alot of blue and 10 to 14 k whites are best with a tent tiny amount of red

That light would be a killer refugium light tho set it up for freshwater planted and that's exactly what a fuge light is only not as good as yours usually lol
