Fluval Marine reef 3.0 review

For all those curious I’m doing a review of the Fluval Marine reef 3.0 for a low tech light it’s pretty good, the app is decent although without a par meter you might find yourself lost adjusting the spectrums the light by itself will support softies however for any LPS and SPS corals I would strongly suggest extra lighting seems pretty durable has a excellent water resistant rating of IP67 so it could be submerged and still be fine, I would recomend having this light directly above the water using the mounting legs it gives you and unobstructed from water as this light is not the strongest but not the worst by the time you get to 18” the PAR reading is around 55 so water penetration is not the best, At 3": PAR=390, At 12": PAR=102 this will get the job done for softies the blue spectrum on this light is fantastic the app has a sunrise and sunset mode witch works great I would recomend this light to new hobbyists as it is easy and user friendly and can maintain softies and if you want to get in to LPS or SPS and anemones you will need to add lighting that about sums it up thanks for reading feel free to hit me with more questions! Do you think adding a second fluval3.0 marine would get there? Or would I need to completely need to replace?

I have this 3.0. I have a 72 gallon now front and am just starting. Do you think if I added a second 48in 3.0 that would do it or am I looking at needing tk completely replace at some point? I’m looking to have a spa garden and possibly a leather, definitely want to add an Anemone at some point. Nothing too complex in my future, at least not for now.

Just posted my first thread, but figured I'd add to this thread as well. Here are my PAR readings on my Red Sea Reefer 250 with 2 Fluval Sea 3.0's.

This photo was taken after the most intense lighting period so it is a little more blue.

Yes, but you’ll need to set the spectrum and schedule up for each individually.

You can save and export settings from the first light to a new(2nd) light if you want the same settings as well.

Well the cyan leds have died now so the light is being sent back. I am now lighting my main tank with the small aquasky 2.0 to give it some light. Or would it better with fluval plant 3.0 until I get a replacement.

I’m growing coral like hell splitting regrowing like you wouldn’t believe running this light on a 250 reefer getting better results than with the kesil 350tb’s I got with the tank softies zoas Kenya’s GSP four different types cloves Xenia’s I have a torch garden on the bed growing heads and a hammer garden too as well as some huge nems carpet and condy and bubble tips growing well.

I use Fluval Plant lights on my freshwater tanks and love them. My initial plan was to use one of these for my new reef tank, but a lot of people questioned their power. My tank is 36 long and 20.5 tall. Do those of you that have these think one 46 watt will do?

What lighting parameters do you have set. I have a 75 gallon reef softies and anemones. LFS said to max out blue purple and cyan and keep white and red to 5-10%. I have 2 of the 48”-60” in it

This was my first real light. I bought this with the intent of starting a reef later on this Summer. I'll start out easy and work up. 75 gallon 4 months old.
