I am moving soon so I had to trim it. I have about a pound of the stuff. It is photosynthetic and I think may be the reason my water is so clear. It seems to love high nitrates as mine are off the chart. Must pick it up soon. I won't mail it, ship it, Parcel Post it or put it on my bicycle and drive it to your house. I have it in a little compartment in my reef and if it starts to croak I will need to throw it out. The stuff is like leather. I just clipped it now. Any reasonable FREE offer accepted.
I am on long Island NY

Can you tell me about this? I just got given a dark purple one. It was dying in the donors tank. White edges, receeding. I've had him about 2 weeks now. He has gotten very dark and no longer has any white. The edges are starting to curl up a bit...is this normal? My nitrates are high as well.

They love nitrates and live on suspended bacteria so that is good for a sponge. I moved here 2 months ago and my blue sponge shrunk to almost nothing because I changed almost all my water with NSW which has no nitrates so the thing is starving.
