Well Well look who's turning yellow again! I just don't get it lol

Not really. He did hide a little more than often. But never really disappeared
 
my smaller one turn white after about 6 months of being with the bigger one. And stayed white for Months. Just now started turning back.
 
I have a yellow watchman goby pair that spawns every so often. I've had the male for seven years and the female for five (I had to search around for awhile to find a female). I wasn't aware they were spawning until one night a few years ago when I passed by the tank and noticed a large gray blob in the male's mouth. He was at the opening of their burrow and shaking violently the gray blob which turned out to be an egg mass. I immediately observed babies breaking free and swimming away from it. I'm a fisheries biologist that specializes in larval fish taxonomy so I had to save a few of the larvae to observe under my high powered microscope. Here's some cool pictures:
