Found a nudibranch this morning. Kill it?

I Notice a strange orange glow on a zoanthid rock I have with some orange and green zoanthids. Then I noticed it was moving. Pulled it out with tweezers, It's a black nudi with orange fluorescent spines. Have it in a glass jar right now.

Should I kill it? Cant get a picture with the glow.

i herd they only live for a few months they are good for eating aphasia keep it it wont harm anything else

get rid of it. it was blending in so it can eat your zoas.

I agree with the post above in killing it. Berghia Nudi's will eat aptasia but that is not one of them. There are far more bad nudi's than good one's.

I did notice a few zoas literally missing from a plug last week. I had fragged off about five polyps. They sat for two weeks and then one day two polyps were gone. I guess this bugger may be the cause. Ill put him down the drain.

It is a zoanthid eating nudibranch.

kill it. one of those nudi's can eat a whole huge colony of zoa's in one whole night.

Make sure you dip the coral with prazi pro. I use it when I get new shipments in. Works great.

I do always dip. With zoas I dip reef dip and rinse then revive. This guy must have either survived the dips or hitch hicked on my original live rock.

My experience reef dip doesn't work. Revive is good but just seem prazi is stronger

There are a ton of different dips out there.
People have their own favorites and swear by them.

I use to use a freshwater dip and lugols iodine.

Some of my friends use a new product called RPS All Out.
They say it even kills the nudibranch eggs.

AHH!! I founder another one on the glass! I didnt find eggs anywhere. I must have imported eggs on something. This one is pink skin with fluorescent yellow knobs. It's on the glass though, I wonder if it's zoanthid eating? I cant get a picture because its on the glass!

I take out any nudibranch I find in my tank, its just not worth the risk. And as far as their color, they take on the color of the zoas that they eat. Thats why you found one with orange on a rock that had orange zoas.

I pulled him out. Just another thing to be paranoid about now :)

I am battling them now and using salifert flatworm exit. It is geqred for flatworms but a nice secondary effect is it will actually dissolve nudis. Either remove colonies and dip or be ready to do a bunch of water changes to get rid of the stuff it kills.
