Found this pipefish??

i found this pipefish in a minnow trap this week in Ct.
My question is are these a visitor or some native to northeast?
He is now in my friends tank.

We have them in NJ waters as well....along with seahorses.

I have a few of those I caught as well. They do great for about a month but they are kind of temperamental. Lost two but still have one, been in the tank for 8 months now.

Ive caught seahorses Nd pipefish in dirty eastriver/newyorkcoastal water in crab traps about 5 different times , majority was recently
