Mine turns brown when he gets spooked. Then goes back to normal. Also when I get up for work at 530 am. He is brown blending in with the rock

If all tests are normal and there are no behavioral changes then try feeding cyclop-eeze flakes. I had a friend who had a similar issue but the discoloration happened over a couple weeks not overnight.

I agree - this may just be normal. They are definitely camoflage artists, and if you spooked him early in the morning? You're lucky you could see him at all! ;) :D

Likely normal. Mine pales out from time to time. He's fat and happy and about three years old. Sometimes he looks like a nice ripe banana and others like an old brown banana too! The sump seems like cruel and unusual punishment and if he were stressed that would exacerbate.

Our one spot foxface does that on occasion, could have been startled besides his camouflage at night. Make sure plenty of seaweed in his diet-herbivore, as mine eats his like it's his last meal.

my one spot will trip out if i walk up towards the tank too quickly. But, when i feed him seaweed, he calms down... FAST! He always hides and changes colors whenever I put my hand or a coral feeding tool in the tank. Weird fish but that's why I love him. Plus, he's my biggest fish in my 72!
