My one-spot fox face got flattened against the weir on my waterbox 110.4 today. I think he was trying to grab some nori that got caught there off the clip. He was truly stuck, in panic-camo mode, and I had to cut the power to help him loose. He is swimming around like normal now and doesn't have any wounds but I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if there are any post-market protectors for the front of the grill. It was so scary!

How long have you had him? An overflow weir should not be strong enough to do that to a fish like that. He looks skinny and could be in a weakened state. Feed him more and a variety of foods including frozen mysis, squid etc. Hopefully, he gets stronger.

I agree! He has been in the tank for three weeks now. He -IS- thin but filling out since he has been here. He has shown no other sign of weakness. I had the lids off the tank and my water level was a little low (ATO malfunction) I'll try to take some pictures of how he looks today.

Tank has: a tomini tang, a starry blenny, melanurus wrasse, 2 PJ Cardinals, a fire shrimp, CUC, live rock and soft corals. This fish is the newest (and last planned) addition. He was bullied for a day by the blenny (he even bullies new coral). The tomini tang was surprisingly ok with the addition. Tank has been established at its current location for 7 or 8 months. When I listen back to the video the water is noisier than usual.

Oh, and I should mention- he hates frozen mysis. Spits it out. Ive tried two brands. Will eat nori and the green frozen cubes. I have some reef frenzy I could try. Should I add pelleted food?

The fish does seem thin, and these fish stress out easily. Let's see if one of the #fishmedic team can take a look for you.

Yes, you can feed pellets, frozen squid, reef frenzy and anything else he likes to fatten him up. Personally, I feed twice a day with a variety of foods and like my fish fat as it helps fend off disease. As long as you know, feeding twice a day will likely increase your nutrient levels in the tank.

His eye seems a little hazy . Just curious did you do. Any qt when you got the fish . I currently have a very tiny like 2 1/2 inch Foxface in qt right now . He is strong enough to swim next to my weers and gyre with not problem . It took me about a week to get him to eat and now he eats anything I throw in there . Have you tried soaking the mysis in selcon or anything . I feed pellets , two different types of flakes , freeze dried mysis along with frozen mysis , brine shrimp , and a couple other different frozen .

Yah, Ive been changing the filter socks daily. Most of my fish are chunky, this one came very thin and has been gaining condition.

He came as a "pre-quarantined fish" from a local seller, in his own separate tank. He seems to be visual, able to maneuver, and in person his eyes look ok to me. I looked at the calendar and he has been in my tank 4 weeks. He is acting absolutely fine right now, other than being a little weirded out by my staring at him intently since it happened.
