Hello, I have a foxface Lo (at least I think? I bought it from live aquaria) and it seems to have a dark circle where the one-spot would have one.

When I got it, it went through QT 35 days with copper and prazi. Eats great, great energy, gets along with everything, and only changes camo colors at night or if it's really scared. Otherwise, it pretty much looks like this all day. He has been in DT for about 2 weeks.

I've attached some pictures of what it looks like. Not sure if there's something wrong, or if this is just how it has decided to look lol.

No other fish or coral issues, running UV 24/7, weekly water changes, feeding twice a day.

These guys have a way of changing their colors often. Maybe it wants to look like a regular one spot. I think it would be more pronounced if it were a one spot. Cute guy. I miss mine.

Can you post a picture taken under just white light? The blue light introduces coloration that makes it difficult to see clearly.

Wow I didn't see the notifications in my email. Sorry for the delay.

I couldn't figure out how to go just white light in the tank, but do these pictures help? It's like it has a faded spot where a one spot foxface would have it's spot lol.

Maybe they painted over the spot to sell him as a Lo instead. Conspiracy!!! It could become a global problem.

I think he is fine and still a Lo. Interesting marks though. Maybe he is a hybrid.

Sorry, still can't see clearly enough. Are there equal spots on both sides of the fish? If so, I would say it is either normal, or stress coloration. If it is asymmetrical, only on one side, that would be more of an issue.

Fishbase suggest that Siganus vulpinus and Siganus unimaculatus may actually just be color variations.

Ok that's good to know. It's the same on both sides. Just seemed weird to me and wasn't sure if maybe there was an obvious infection or something.

Eats great and everything, just the color.

Thanks again!

I have similar issue. Are your patches like this?
@Jay Hemdal should I be bothered? I feed hikari seaweed extreme and frozen food with aquaforest fish V vitamins. He eats like a hog.

Those aren’t quite the same thing. How long have you had this fish?
