Not that I think it’s the issue (I’m too novice to have a valuable opinion) but which salt mix do you use? Home RODI unit?

Trident reagents- reliably sourced reagents or homemade?

I’m intrigued by the high Alk Magnesium and Calcium

Looking at the tank, I can see why the foxface could be an issue. I would not put one in that size tank unless it was really small. They grow rapidly.
The tank has no hiding places for the foxface really (from the look of the picture). They are very skittish and shy at first.
I have also found them to be more sensitive to disease in recent years. So, stress in this environment would result in death.
Could be where you purchase them from and what sort of qt they had.

Okay, confused. Which tank is it? The second is a bit better for hiding, but still just too small for comfort for a foxface.

+1 - the tank looks less then ideal for certain fish. May not be why it died but a foxface doesn't seem very appropriate.

I would not even put one in my 4 ft 80g honestly because they get good sized fast.

Salt is reef crystals instant ocean. I used Red Sea and salfrit before trident. Reagents are trident reagents. Rodi unit.

Okay, 40 minute drip.
Looks like you have good surface agitation with the looks of that left power head.
Alk is high, you know that. Doubt that would be the reason either.
Only heavy breathing before death.

Anything else, sprays near, around the tank? Or chemicals?

Definitely need to qt before addimg if possible.
Definitely will need a bigger tank to keep long term.

How are you doing the drip acclimation?

2nd is what I had all last year for 2 of the foxface s I had. At Christmas I did the arch, no foxface at the time. There is a cave a back of each corner (took them out looking for him yesterday).

Nothing near the tank to spray, no candles or air freshener downstairs. Drip for 40 min. Only heavy breathing approximately 24 hrs before dying. Ate and swam well all the other days.

How big is the tank?

If it is a nano type.. a foxface would outgrow it in a year.

If you need stuff for algae...

tuxedo urchin, trochus snails, algae blenny, emerald crabs, etc.

Tank looks a lot healthier in the two towers pic.

i think it just looks newer in that pic. The rock is white which isn't healthy to me.. just new. The arch pic just looks like some algae.
