Hey R2R,

The base of this colony starting to lose flesh because it was overgrown and didn’t get light/flow. I trimmed some branches off but is it best to cut where marked and start 3-4 mini colonies or keep as is?

This has been my “money maker” at the LFS 😂

I'd cut it where you marked it to be safe. But that's my opinion. Others may have a better idea.

You could, forest fire grows like a weed. you could also start those frags next to each other and they will grow together into a larger colony again. That should not have been shaded enough right there to have stn'd back like that. How much light are they getting? or is there something else in the pic that would have shaded it?

That looks like it was an stn event that stopped. I have seen it before in my systems. I would just leave it if its not advancing.

That is what it looks like to me too. As far as SPS go, it isn't super light demanding. It can re-encrust those areas too.
