I don't know what to truly call this but a group of us did it in Okinawa and it worked out well, basically you frag a few pieces and hand them off to another aquarist. The real deal here is that if you have a tank crash you can get back most of the types of corals you had previously. The secondary benefit is that more people get to have added color in their tank, the program would be completely voluntary and any restrictions would be decided upon those sharing and whom they are sharing with.
Any interest in such an endeavor?
