Frag Tank - Hydroponic Equipment?

Hey all,

I am looking into frag tank options for my basement and came across this system:

It seems reasonably priced and would be very functional. Does anyone have experience with these or use these currently? I would love to know and see more.

It's about 8 inches deep, and holds about 25 gallons. It's a 2' x 4' tray. I built the stand myself, and made a gravity fuge to the right.

Wow, very cool. Thanks for sharing. That's just what I want to do. Did you just place egg crate on the bottom or elevate it? I am just worried about the depth.

I placed egg crate on the bottom, but detritus gets trapped under it very easily so just be on top of water changes.

cut some 1 inch pvc into 1" pucks. Put these down and the eggcrate on top and it will reduce the detritus build up

After looking into it more, I think I am going to go a different route because the hydroponic tanks are so shallow. I would like to be able to grow out some corals in here as well and with these I cannot.

The one in the pic above has 6" of water above the rack powered with a prime and has grown coral like a demon. That said I did just buy a IM lagoon 25 for growth leaving the hydro as a hands in daily frag unit

At the end of the day, I don't want to have to have 2 separate frag tanks, one for growing out and one for small frags. I just want one. So I guess at a minimum, 12 inches depth? I didn't see any hydroponics at that height.

The deepest Hydroponic ebb and flow trays that I have come across are 7 or 8 inches deep. You won't find any at 12".

You can try to look for a deep blue sea 60 gal rimless tank, its about 12" tall i believe

Have you looked into Pentair Aquatics? I have a 12" deep.

Rubbermaid 50 gallon stock tanks are 12 inches deep i do believe
