I generally like color. But I'm drawn to how dark it is. Never seen one like it. Unique. Which makes it cool! :-)

Your tank looks bad butt! You can't see the frags.
So do you acclimate the coral first, then break the frag, or right off the bat you break it?
You also said you add super glue, and glue to the rock. It doesn't dry as soon as it goes into the water?

i had an anemone on my rock i got and someone said it was Aiptasia, so i got rid of it.. later find out it was an anemone i think... real ticked with that one! but wiser now!, i love how your rock is all glued together and has the cliff like look to it, i wish i could glue my rock like that in my tank but its already in there! no turning back now :S

I bought a bag of frag plugs and cut them all down, and then glued my fragged corals to them. I'm sure it's possible to cut them with the corals still on, just more carefully. The ones I bought off of amazon cut really easily. If I buy corals with the ugly big frag, I acclimate them, and usually try to remove them from the frag plug. I give them a few days and then re-glue them to the new plug.

I put a big glob of superglue on the frag plug, it cures underwater, but I hold it in place for a couple of minutes. My rock work has a ton of little holes in it, that's why I always prefer the little frag plugs.

The rock came off of craigslist, it really is just a giant piece of rock naturally formed that way. That really sucks. I had aiptasia on the higher part of this rock, and just left them for a few weeks. Eventually bought aiptasia-x, worked like a charm. They are anemones but they sting the **** out of everything, and they populate the tank very quickly. So you probably did the right thing.

I cut off the frag plug stem with a pair of wire cutters. The coral putty itself isn't very sticky, so I put gel superglue (cyanoacrylate) on the base of the plug, then a wad of putty, then another coat of superglue on the bottom of the putty. Once you stick it to the rock, you can mold the putty over the edges of the plug to kind of break up the outline and hopefully once your coral encrusts you won't notice the plug as much.

Btw, you can save a few bucks by purchasing regular cyanoacrylate at the hardware store or supermarket. If you buy the "reef glue," you're paying more for the same thing.

@joshkirkland83 stacks his frogspawn on top of his T8 on top of his anemone on top of his chromish i think. His LFS told him to do it that way. Besides, his LFS guy has been doing this hobby for almost 40 years.

Haha, yeah our lfs is the best! Your fish come home with ich and all other kinds diseases and bad hitchhikers. I personally liked the 5 gallon tank they were selling complete with live rock, a fish and the one coral in it (aiptasia) lol. Awesome starter tank

I've heard a lot and researched a lot about lightening for corals, and I nearly bought a T5 coralife dual light kit today but dang they're so expensive $150+ and it's just a dual, so I've been keeping my corals under a T8 and LEDs, and honestly I've seen nothing bad in 1-2months, I started dosing and feeding my Goniopora coral and once I turn my standard little light on it extends to its fullest to the point where I have had to move it to its own spot so the tentacles if you will lol can all be moved by the current I've got going on, but today I got LEDs they weren't as good so returned them and got two of the bulbs I can use which I think will be better, ones an actintic blue and the other is a t8 colormax for light, in a Walmart dual fixture and so far so good, so far my frogspawn loves it and my shrooms too and my Goniopora has its moments but it's doing good, I'll be wrapping foil under the bulbs for a reflector so it'd be somewhat brighter, has anyone done this? I heard Goniopora corals need great lights etc and mines has been loving what I have on the budget, even my LFS said they'd do fine under it
