Hello fine people, I have an XF150 Gyre with some frayed/exposed wires right at the pump.

How would you recommend I go about repairing/sealing them to be able to put this thing in my tank? Cheers!

Bought it from someone in this forum claiming it was new in box. I guess technically it is :downcast-face-with-sweat:

I am not much for public shaming but someone needs to walk down the street naked having faeces thrown at them!

Photo is blurry but is any copper showing? And missing insulation on the inner wires? From the photos it looks normal. Sloppy work but normal.

There's no fixing that without it becoming worse. 'Someone' on the forum should PM you with at least an apology.

Sorry about the blurry photos. Here’s another one.

As for your question yes, you can see just under the white/yellow wire there is some copper.

Thanks that is a lot better. If you wanted to fix that, the only safe option I know of potting the wires. Depending on exactly how much room you have there it may or may not be possible. I agree with others. Find them… kick them in the junk till you feel better.

3D print a cover over the cable and fill the cover with resin. At least that's what I would do, although I agree there are a lot of specialized tool needed for that kind of repair.

Yeah this one sounds like a lost cause. That’s a big shame. Not my first mistake so far and I’m sure it won’t be the last! Thanks everyone.

Clean up the Exposed Copper wire with a toothbrush and a mild acid, Vinegar or Citric Acid. Dry and Coat the Wire with Liquid Electric Tape, Available from Boating Stores or Marine Hardwares. BTW, If two wires are damaged you are going to have to put something between them. I suggest splitting Shrink Tubing ** and heating it to shrink it around one of the wires. Do not use Electrical Tape under the liquid Tape, as it will fail. ** they have a shrink Tubing that has a goop in it but it’s not totally needed, if you can’t find it.
