My friend has a 20 gallon tank that’s been set up for a couple of months. He has mainly LPS and softies. Recently had a bout of dinos and some other algae, tried a blackout and dosing vibrant which seemed to help for a little bit. Now whatever this is came back full force. He is still dosing vibrant with no effect. Please help! #reefsquad

What lights are they using? Looks like green film algae on the sand.

May need to up the flow in that tank.

The stringiness suggests that it's dinos, to me.
There are lots of threads with various suggested ways of fighting them.
Methods include tank blackout, nitrate/phosphate dosing, manual siphoning with or without micron filtration, UV sterilizer, medication with DinoX/RedX, and introducing other algae species to compete. Every situation seems to be a bit different. Often it's an ongoing or recurrent battle.
