Well almost 6 years ago I took a break from reef tanks . Now almost 6 years later I am setting back up my tank . Before I took my break I had just ordered a box of Fritz salt . Well The other day I opened the box and the salt is lot hard not clumped up and looks like I just got it in . How I don’t know maybe it’s the temp and humidity we keep our house but it’s still good .

Personally I would use it, even if it was clumped up. I was sort of like you, but I had taken nearly 15 years off and when I restarted again I used salt that I had left over.

I am using it , I was just shocked there was no clumping it wasn’t hard as a brick it was like I just ordered it . I have always had problems with my salt in the last clumping up in a matter of a week or two

I keep mine in the bag it comes in, like the one in your picture. I put that bag tied closed in a bucket with a lid. Also in the bucket I put a mesh filter bag full of dry rice.

I started doing this when I lived on the gulf coast and it prevented clumping. I don’t live in as humid a location now but still do it.

Thanks for that tip . I had always just took it out the bag and put it in a sealed bucket
