Hello,

I am looking to get an idea of what I should sell my large frogspawn colony for? It is roughly 10" across.

thanks!

I paid $200 for a red montipora colony that was 4” long, $100 for a 5 gallon bucket worth of stylopora colony, etc.

I think hobbyist prices are a bit friendlier to giveback to the local reefing community or to fund the needs of your own hobby!

I think you should reach out to aquaculture companies and consider selling it to them. That way they can frag it, aquaculture them, and grow them out for new reefers to enjoy!

I think most people would sell LPS colonies per head like $30-40 per head of frogspawn, but I think that’s more hobby priced. I think retail is slightly higher? But if I were to buy let’s say a 10 head colony of frogspawn that was $45 per head, I would not buy it at that price of ~$450 since frogspawns are pretty common imho.

Check out WWC, Coral.com or websites where they sell LPS coral colonies and use that as a reference for pricing/value.

I can think of two aquaculture companies I would recommend, but that’s just my opinion!

You could sell it for $100 or $500, so I would continue asking around and find a value that sits right with you. Beautiful colony!
