I am selling the metal halides over my personal tank. I bought this all brand new in November and have been running the bulbs just one hour per day, so they are basically still as good as new. Two of each:

- Sunlight Supply 400w Galaxy Ballast
- Sunlight Supply LumenMax Elite Reflectors <OR> the large version of the LumenMax (scroll for pic)
- 400w Radium 20k

$750 for all.

i also have two of the LARGE sunlight supply lumen max reflectors (now discontinued). these are actually what i am using over my tank. my tank is 80" long and i get coverage over the entire length with them.

i have the two brand new smaller elites, too, which i would prefer to sell with this package. however if you are needing the huge reflectors and it will make the sale, i would be willing to let them go instead of the elites.

couple more shots of the ballasts. you will also get the sls lamp cords with either pair of reflectors.

also, another note on the elites. they are literally brand new. i don't have the boxes for them anymore, but when i bought this light setup i bought the elites thinking i might get the coverage i needed over my tank with them. i mounted them and fired them for about an hour, then took them back down and swapped in the large lumenmax reflectors which were spares we had on hand at the store.

the large lumen maxes make for awesome prop lights, especially if you buy the sls light rails and motorized light movers.

Little off subject, but i need to know. Why the selling of the lights, switching to t5's or what? you seemed to have great color by what you showed in you pic's.

I can answer the question. As soon as he switched to this 2 x 400W setup, almost all of his corals were cooked under these lights. He lost many of his SPS colonies. Obviously 400W bulbs are too much for his 24" deep tank. There is no room for him to further move up his lights and left him to other options, but sell it. Yes. He does plan to try T5s. Those great pics Benny posted are from his frag tank, not from his main display tank.

up until november i had been using four de lumenarc reflectors w/ 250w ushio 20k and everything was doing really well. i swapped these in thinking that with only two covering the full tank that the par would be about equal to the 4 x 250w i was running over the tank. i reduced my halide photo period to 3 hours off the bat and ultimately down to 1 hour, added egg crate over the tank, and still scorched the snot out of a good portion of my sps. i should have known better, it's frustrated me all to heck, and i'm having so much luck with t5 + leds over my frag tank that i'd like to move that direction with the display.

i know that this isn't probably the best sales pitch, but it is the reason i am selling them. they are just too much output for my tank. my tank is only 24" tall and i run 0 nitrate and .01 phosphate, carbon, yadda yadda so the penetration is intense. if i could raise them up another foot it would be another story, but as you can see they are at the ceiling where i have them. i wish i could keep them as i do love the color, and i have considered simply switching the ballasts/bulbs for 250w...but t5 & led is just really appealing to me at the moment. :)

Sorry this is kinda off topic. How high did you have these mounted?

bottoms of the large reflectors are probably about 10" off the top of the tank. as you can see that is the highest i could mount them due to the height of my tank (it is on a bar-height stand). if i could mount them up higher i would keep them for sure.
