Fungia dying off overnight??

Hey guys I picked up a beautiful fungia frag yesterday from my LFS. This is how it looked when I added it to the tank.

This morning I woke up and it has been decimated!

There are even little flecks of it in the sand bed. I also added a stag, millepora, elegance and red morph that (along with all my other coral) are all perfectly happy.

My stocking is:
2 small clowns
1 pink streaked Wrasse
1 lawnmower blenny
2 peppermint shrimp
Assorted snails.

What happened to this guy? Is there anything I can do to save it?

This was my fear. Not really sure what I can do about this other than removing the shrimp though? They haven't gone after any other corals so far and I have a variey of zoanthids I'd assume they'd enjoy.

Nooo... lol don't remove the shrimp. I'd just avoid anymore fungia frags, knowing my shrimp like having them for lunch... they're a hit/miss... they're probably just not attracted to your other corals... I had a shrimp that loved munching on my cyphastreas... I just moved them to another tank, with peppermint aswell... but those weren't interested in it at all... so it's kinda funky.. id just avoid the fungia unless you have another tank incase thi gs go south with anymore frags...

I mean tbh I'm more interested in keeping the fungia than the shrimp haha - is there a reason you say don't remove the shrimp? I'm also worried they'll end up going for more frags. I was also thinking about getting some kind of plastic cover to put over the fungia (with holes for water movement) for the time being.

I'd find them more beneficial in the long run for the overall health of your tank over a nice looking fungia... but that's just me. Yeah there's enough flesh left to where it might bounce back. A covering of some sort could work.

Fair enough - I'll see if I can find a suitable plastic covering so they don't finish off their dinner tonight - a good start for now.
