I was in my office tonight sitting next to my tank relaxing. My wife walked in and we chatted and she commented about how well the tank was doing. My wife almost never expresses interest in my tank. She is glad I enjoy it but could take it or leave it.
Then she asked me a question a didn't expect. "When are you getting another tank?" was not what I expected to hear. At first I thought it may have been one of those "wife trap" questions where soon was not an acceptable answer. I explained to her that I had my hands full with this one and still had much more to do with it before it was wear I wanted it. Then she asked "When are you getting a bigger tank"? Needless to say my jaw just about dropped off the floor. She added that we really don't have any place to put a bigger tank, which is true. Still, the question was shocking. In truth, I have no desire to have a bigger tank. When I set up this system in late 2017 it was exactly what I wanted.
The first thing this got me thinking about was why she was asking. I think she wishes we had set this tank up in a more public area. Right now I'm the only one who gets to enjoy it for the most part but everyone who sees it tends to loves it.
The second thing this got me wondering is if I am broken for not wanting a second tank or a larger tank. Are there others out there like me? So.. after a long story, time for a poll.

I'm good with what I have. I've had multiple tanks in the past and larger tanks, but I truly enjoy just carrying for one.

Being married 3 times, that's a trick question. I read into it, what she's really saying is. I need a new car. Seeing if funds won't go to bigger tank, then a new Corvette won't hurt. She know how much money goes into tank so, can budget for your new car. Just saying. From man to man.;)

I spoil my wife. She knows she has to be careful when she says she loves something because there is a good chance I'll try to make it happen. She just got a new car a few months ago. ;) So, while that may be motivation for many wives, it's not a factor in this case.

I'm stump then. Worth a try. As they say, " I'm yanking your chain, mate." I give up.

Everyone has different goals and desires in the hobby and none of them are "normal" or better. I have a strong desire for several fish and coral combinations that don't go together well at all.

I would love to have a larger second tank that would be SPS only so I could have an angel or two and a naso tang. It would not have in Halochoeres or Macropharyngodon wrasses (they would stay in my present tank) so I could also have a mandarin.

I have the room, just don't have the time. When I have the time in the future...I probably won't have the money!

LOL, I laughed reading this post. My wife is the same she could take it or leave it. She is kinda forced now because I have become embedded on the fish obsession. I am on the opposite side of the fence I 100% want a bigger tank. Now granted I started small for many reasons. 1) I wanted to get my feet feet again, its been 20 years since my last tank which was an epic fail (I didn't use RO/DI). 2) I thought expense wise it would be good to start smaller 3) My basement isn't fixed up yet for the monster tank my heart desires! lol (200 gallon +). 4) Wife didn't want it to consume our living room
.
She probably would never ask the question "When are you getting a bigger tank", but I have already told her she might have to divorce me if she doesn't allow me to have it later on;)
I am very happy with my choice though starting small and putting it where I sit mostly and watch TV. I guess you know where I voted, lol

Only really hard choice for me is to go corals or my favorite fish the queen angel. I see where some can do both but risky. Less risky in a big tank 200+ it seems
