Galexea placement

Hey all! New to reefing and just getting into corals! I have a new sonic the hedgehog galexea and I'm wondering if it's too close to my gsp. It's still on a frag plug so I'm definitely able to move it. It's on an island alone but I'm still thinking eventually it's going to sting the gsp. Thoughts?

If the flow will blow sweepers in the direction of any coral the galaxia will nuke it. They are very aggressive corals with very long sweepers 8-12" in many cases. You know how people will do gsp walls on the back of a tank? I did this with galaxia years ago. Looked great until everything on the top of my rock work got nuked. It was a 75g tank and the rocks sat in the middle of the tank about 6-8" from the back wall. The galaxia could almost reach the front glass thats 18" from the back. Have not had galaxia in a tank since and I really do love it just not enough to want to worry about it killing anything it touches.

Yeah! That was early 2000s so all I had was the normal green version. When I got back in about 2 years ago I was blown away by all the color morphs "available" now. That sonic is super cool.

I must have the 2 best behaved galaxea on the planet. I've looked at them every hour of the day and night and never seen a sweeper longer than 1/2". (My pectina however, look out!) Having said that, Brandon from zoanthids.com said he puts his near the outlet drain. Last thing the water hits before heading for the sump, so the current carries any sweepers in the direction of the flow. Good for the animal to pick up nutrients, good for the other coals to be out of danger.
Basically, wherever you decide to put it, (mine are in corners) watch the flow and don't put anything within 6" on the far side. Remember to check again with any change in the current, including water loss or some fish knocking into a powerhead.
