Gas bubble in silicone seam?

Hello everyone,

I would very much appreciate your thoughts on this.

I recently noticed this bubble in my silicone seam. I can’t remember if it’s always been there or if it appeared recently. For now, I marked it with tape to track it in case of expansion.

Tank is an 8yr old Coast to Coast Aquarium custom tank. (I learned that they went bankrupt? Anyone know the story behind what happened?) Eurobraced, 1/2” sides, 3/4” bottom.

Am I in immediate danger here?

This doesn’t look ideal, but looks can be deceiving (as can photos)!

I’m not familiar with this particular brand, and am not sure how wide/tall they make their typical internal silicone fillets!

Can you measure up from the bottom edge of the tank to the bottom perimeter of this bubble? — I’m trying determine if the bubble is within the structural glass:glass silicone seam , or if it’s in the predominantly cosmetic internal silicone fillet…

It looks suspiciously Iike the former… but, as I said, looks can be deceiving!

From bottom of tank to bottom perimeter of bubble is 1/4”. From bottom of tank to highest point of bubble is 1/2”. Total height of silicone from bottom of tank to top line silicone is 1”.

Oh wow! yeah okay, this is a cause for concern…

This one’s sadly on its way out… the bubble there is only going to grow over time…

I’d recommend getting affairs in order to proactively decommission this tank, especially if the bubble grows any larger! (marking the perimeter so you can observe for bubble growth is a handy method here)

Do you have any glass tank manufacturers that you recommend? I expected C2C tanks to last 20 years or more, so disappointed…
