Gate vale placement

Goal: I want to have 2 full siphons, one of them will be plumbed into a rollermat (RS1200) the other will serve as a bypass. Both will have gate valves. I am going to have a shelf directly above the red pipe. I can tuck them neatly yet very accessible on the left had side about 6 inches in front of the 90’s on the far left. This would be the top 2 1.5” red drains. The red is only partially glued. I could mount them anywhere from the second from the right t-slot that is mounted to the wall. However, if I mount them directly to the right of the dropdown by the 2 45 degree fittings, I will lose a bunch of shelf space right them. Does it matter if I am 6 inches or so from those 2 90’s on the far left?

Thanks for taking a look at this. The yellow line would be Primary #1, which will be a full siphon going into the sump through a RS1200. I am wondering if the gate valve can be where I have the yellow arrow. That is about 6 inches from the 90 that from there would dump the returning water into the sump through the RS1200.

The green line is Primary #2, which will also be a full siphon but simply dumping into the sump. This will serve as a bypass to the RS1200. I will also have a gate valve on this. The gate valve will also be about 6 inches from a 90. This gate valve will be where the green arrow is.

Will you have a 3rd emergency drain? I'm not sure I'd want gate valves on both drains if you only have 2. Your plan seems fine, and maybe this is just a silly opinion of mine, but I feel like I'd want the gate valve on a vertical since it is gravity fed.

This was my first option. I was concerned that I had to have a 90 so close after the gate valve. @BeanAnimal (thanks for the insight)

@BeanAnimal - I assume that by discharge you mean as close to the exit of the overflow as possible?

I think he means as close as possible to where the drain tube enters the sump, to maximize the siphone head before the gate valve

OK - That is super helpful. I had it where I show in the photo and was moving it to the sump area. Now I get it and I can knock this out without screwing up any more fittings, lol. Thanks everyone!

don't forget to include threaded unions where it makes sense for ease of breakdown/maintenance when needed

That Abyzz 400 controller directly underneath the valves is temporary? I get very nervous when electronics are next to water pipes, let alone underneath.

I’m very union happy. Once I settle in where the valves go, I’ll be able to glue the two long lines together. Then I will cut an extra union in. The way I have it plumbed, the two drains on the right have to be pulled through this side. So, when I cut that extra union in on each line, I want it close to the overflow box. This way I can rehook it up by myself. Currently, I can’t as the leverage from the length prevents me from getting the union started.

Totally temporary. I had 6 - 20 amp circuits ran to the tank, they are all 5 foot off the ground. Those black rails you see are 2040 T-slot. I will mount all my electronics to horizontal t slot rails on the wall at about the 3.5-5 foot mark. The wall will likely be nearly full with crap, lol.
