Yea they say they are full of personality and don't get real aggressive with others or inverts.....They stay small to.....I guess they are actually related to pseudanthias then hawkfish.....Cool pick up....I would say look into also is get some kinda of ray goby and pistol shrimp...That would be cool to...I have a black ray goby that I thought was eaten but a super rare anemone I had. So I traded away the anemone so I could get some firefish got the firefish. 24 hrs later the firefish jumps out right in front of me, dies and the Black ray goby shows his face.....So needless to say I'm out of a rare anemone and a firefish but find that my goby is still alive....What a week! I fixed my tank so there will be no more jumping out and plan to get 3 firefish...Have you ever though about those)firefish)?

I have no experience with hawkfish so I wish I could give you some suggestions. The only thing I can say is that make sure your shrimp are bigger than your hawkfish.

Good luck buddy, and let me know how it goes.

You getting that local? They are also a deep water fish so 10k lights might stress it a bit, as they are used to it being so bright deep down in the reef....From what I have read on that fish is they are not found higher then 30 meters....

I have 2 firefish, got them super cheap at Petco, like $11.99 each. I read somewhere they like to have at least 2 in the tank if not more, so I got 2. Haven't had a problem yet with them jumping- they don't gulp at the surface or anything, but I also read that shutting the light off on the them or otherwise scaring them when they aren't by a hiding place can prompt them to jump. Gimme a day or so and I'll try to find the article again. They have lots of personality- they like to swim up to the front of the tank and flick their banner at you to get your attention. Reminds me of a much thinner Mr T bowing up at you...

Sorry Marvin we're not trying to hijack your thread.....If you getting that local that is a nice deal as they aren't distributed much to local LFSs.

wonder if two on 32g would be fine? I know that they don't swim a lot and I think they can have their own separate islands since that's how I have my aquascaping...

I can't really say for sure if they will get along in that size tank but as laid back as they are I would give it a shot.
