He does have a filter - they show a trickle filter that looks eight feet tall and six feet wide. Skimmers are filters too. The title is misleading a bit.

There is another funny detail I remember: The salesman in the shop showed me the corals Jürgen Wendel had delivered a few weeks earlier in comparison to frags of the same clones he just had unpacked and the color had improved a lot in the shop. The "Stylophora pink" for example had got really pink in the shop.
