looking to get a reef again and contemplating aqua nano reef 35

it wont be for fish unless i can find something small enough, just some corals and perhaps hermit crabs

i dont really want to heavily invest in loads of extra lights etc right from the word go, hoping to build it up over time so im wondering if the nano reef 35 kit is a good starting point to at least get some rock in there and some coral frags and let it grow.

is the out of the box skimmer any good, ill get a wave maker but hoping to use all of the standard kit at least in the beginning and add to it as and when. (yes i know there's better lights pumps etc etc but you have to start somewhere...)

just a little overwhelmed with youtube and endless shopping lists of equipment, i did have a very successful tank until about 10 years ago but it had a sump + was a massive tank and that's a whole different ball game etc. again i started out small and built it over 6 years or so, but every video on youtube is now just a shopping list and non standard tanks.

help..

all you truly need to get a reef going are some rocks and a powerhead, thats it. Of course you need a light if you want to keep corals, a heater, and some test kits. I run 2 tanks like this, no other filtration, just weekly water changes. If you don't plan to keep fish (or very few fish) then you hardly need a skimmer. All the other fancy bells and whistles can come later.
