people like to talk about the fast food service when it comes to people in poverty but what they don't understand is most people in fast food industry don't work 40 hours a week. our government has taxed and charged companies so much that its cheaper to hire twice as many part time workers vs maintaining a full time staff. people working part time jobs shouldn't even be considered when talking about poverty. they choose to work part time jobs as there are always full time jobs and there are always places hiring. there are only a few exceptions to that statement and most people don't fall in with those exceptions.

I tend to upset people with this topic lol

I worked at Walmart a few times, and they don't anyone full-time. The only full-time employees, the few they had, have worked there forever. They hire allot of part time people, give them few hours and still have all shifts covered. They save alot of money like that.

yeah, and corporate welfare comes into play there too. not only do they pay low wages and keep mostly part time employees, they get tax breaks for doing it because they "provide more jobs"

Yeah, that's why they probably ask you those voluntary questions on job applications, so they can hire certain people that give them tax breaks.

I used to work at target and that's exactly how they did it. the computer would pick the people to interview on a first come first serve basis then the hiring manager would sort them into interview and "not eligible" and wouldn't even interview those who didn't meet what he wanted to see. in short if it didn't look good on him to hire them or it didn't get the company a tax break or it didn't fit into the mandatory hires (based on race and sex) he wouldn't interview them.

It's common these days.
