i have also heard that if you keep your GFO too long, as in you dont change it out regularly, your corals can also STN, so keep that in mind and change it out regularly, like once a month or so

I've run GFO for two years and have had many receding corals, I've never tied to the GFO though.

i read somewhere and it was like the water is to clean. I think he was running gfo too. This one guy never feed frozen food and this was happening to his sps all par was good. Someone suggested him to feed frozen and 2 weeks later the sps stop losing skin. Not sure if thats the problem here but look into your feeding.

I agree with that it needs to be changed out regularly. If you don't your PO4 will rise a little and then "baam" you drop new gfo in and shock your corals.

I started feeding frozen once a week, since my rock is getting some hair algae. Though I'm now starting suspect it is the rock itself that is feeding the algae, as I started the tank with all dry rock. Gonna start feeding frozen a little everyday to see if the coals improve.
