Giant Marine Hermit- With Triggers?

So I kept Triggers in the past with White Spotted hermits. Out of maybe 9 crabs two or three got picked off over time. I can't find White Spotted Hermits but my store has the Giant Hermit. The largest of Reef Hermits. I dropped two in last night. Unfortunately the larger one got caught switching shells almost as soon as I added him. I was quite upset as he would have been amazing in this tank. The smaller one got under the rockscape. And I have kept all kinds of Hermits with Triggers. I wondered if a very Large Giant Hermit could be kept safer with Triggers. It was not cool when the larger one got eaten yesterday. I want to get another one as I think these are awesome. But if its probably going to get killed then why do it. Yesterday was bad luck. I think the crab would have done well. 180 gallon

These kinds of meals make me angry. I always think I could have gone out for a lobster myself if anybody is going to eat big dollar seafood, I come first. If I can't finish my meal, then I bring home the scraps for the fishes.

What kind of triggers?

I feel as if they will eventually catch them switching shells. Unless its a very young trigger or one of the open water triggers like the Xanthichthys genus... I think its a matter of "if the opportunity presents itself... the crab is gone"

Giant hermits are gentle giants. What about some long spine urchins instead?

My Niger trigger is not kind to Long Spine Urchins. One crab did survive. The smaller one. So he is still doing well. I have ine or two white stripe hermits that I have a had a long time. They are large but not like the red ones. I like Dardanus Megistos because they only get about softball size. I wish the bigger crab had live. These are very good for a predator tank. They clean very well.

Do you mean they eat hair algae and such?
