A little background to start with. I've had several marine systems since the 80's and have gradually worked my way from a 29g to a 55 and then a 90g reef system with halides and LPS. I tore that system down while I completed my basement.

It took 6 years. I work slow.

In the meantime I purchased a 240g system, upgraded my lights to the Orphek panels and swapped out my old pumps and powerheads for new DC ones. I also picked up an Apex off the marketplace. I built a new stand and plumbed it to the sump. I now have a fully cycled tank with about 280 lbs of rock and I've added a clean up crew with a couple of clown fish. The diatom outbreak is almost gone and this is what she looks like now.

Sure. Pretty simple so far. I'm still adding to it.
Aqueon sump with refugium, three socks, an old Kent Nautilus TE skimmer (that works great by the way) and a COR 20 utility pump with a Varios 8 return pump. There is a Teco TK2000 chiller in the cabinet that doubles as a backup to my 600 watt BRS heater. I'm using an Apex to control the heat and the three WAV powerheads. There's an Icecap gyre sitting vertically behind the rock to keep water flowing. The floating hood has 3 Orphek Atlantik V4's. Still needing a doser, UV sterilizer, and a better chaeto light.

Here's the latest image of my happy reef. Since my last post I've replaced the skimmer with a Bubble Magus D9 and added a DOS and DDR. Everything is looking good and healthy.
