Imo, stop trying. The idea of changing anything on a tank that's doing well doesn't make sense to me. The idea of changing something on a tank that's doing well to grow algae elsewhere, makes even less sense. Your doing it for the fish and corals arent you? Then forget the chaeto.

Dosing potassium/iodine/iron etc (especially without testing/targeting specific levels and hobby grade kits dont test those well except salifert potassium) could mess up your water chemistry and stress/kill your corals.

FYI I have 0 iron consistently on my triton tests and I pull 2 gallon ziplock bags of chaeto out of my sump every 2 weeks. I've had potassium at 270-480 and seen absolutely no difference in chaeto growth. It does consume a lot of iodine imo but it has grown the same for me in 30 ug/l - 65 ug/l.

Btw if it was getting too much light it would turn white not brown, again ime.

Stop dosing the nopox or whatever it’s called. Dose trace elements. Get a vivraspectra wide spectrum led light from amazon. Make sure there is flow. Boom. You will have lots of cheato.

You cannot change the spectrum on the H380
https://www.kessil.com/support/downloadfiles/H380_UserManual.pdf
6.Adjust the spectrum to the desired setting (B). "Grow" sets the spectrum to Deep Purple, ideal for vegetative growth. "Bloom" sets the spectrum to Magenta ideal for the flowering stage.

I would set it to magenta - more red spectrum.

That’s correct, i called kessil customer service before and inquired about which setting to use for cheato and macro algae they said to use the grow setting only
